Design language development and product designs mirror-less camera lenses
Takram designed two models, the “35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD | Model A058” and the “28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 | Model A063”, from the next-generation series of interchangeable lenses for mirrorless cameras made by Tamron.
To catch up with the rapidly developing mirror-less camera market, we developed a new design language, “Tone Profile,” providing high-functionality on top of Tamron’s high-standard quality of light-weight and compact. The design language is built on top of the foundation of “Human Touch,” design language that we previously developed with Tamron, we studied the operability down to the finest detail as well as the CMF, including the development of paint, to create an appearance befitting a next-generation lens series.
Regarding the lenses' highly pursued optical and mechanical design, we aimed to achieve a design that maximises operability and gives a sense of precision. The design language “Toned Profile” is inspired by the beautiful build of athletes with an optimal amount of muscle while reducing any kind of waste to demonstrate their best performance.
In accordance with the higher performance, new features such as buttons and connectors have been added. The “Toned Profile” aligns the product's design language into a crisp form, while allowing for a smooth operation.
